Description:
There was a massive explosion on the coast of Cuba, in the Cuba Havana Harbor. The USS Maine had exploded. This killed 260 of the fewer than 400 American crew members. We had immediately blamed Spain and soon this led to the outbreak of the Spanish-American war. It was later discovered that the USS Maine was not attacked, but exploded on its own.
