The Sherman Anti-Trust Act was the first law to outlaw monopolistic business practices/eliminate trusts. It was named after Senator John Sherman of Ohio. It was passed by the Senate 51-1, the House by 242-0 and it was finally signed by President Benjamin Harrison on July 2.
