The US was still on their journey through the Pacific in attempts to control Japanese owen islands in order to head into the mainland. Admiral Nimitz and Macarthur converge on the island and talk strategy above the rest of various invasion. Japanese fleet meets US ships in the Gulf. This starts the largest naval battle in history.This was the first time the kamikaze pilots were introduced to the war which were very effective in killing and dying for their country. Their planes were called zeros and loaded with explosives. A group of US ships, a plethora of Japanese ships into a straight body of water, trapping them on both sides. Every time a ship would come through the straight they were attacked back the US. These ships could not go back though, because there was so many behind them. Japan faced many deaths. After this long battle ended it resulted in the control of the Philippines, almost destroyed the Japanese navy entirely, and we supply china with weapons and troops to help in their front in the war.
