nov 6, 1860 - Lincoln Presidency
Description:
Abraham Lincoln was a self-taught lawyer, legislator, and vocal opponent of slavery. He was the 16th president of the United States shortly after the beginning of the Civil War. He was a good military leader and his Emancipation Proclamation helped the abolition of slavery. The Proclamation freed all the slaves in the rebellious states but left those in the border states in bondage. His Gettysburg Address is very famous as well. This expressed the war's purpose, including the Founding Fathers, Declaration of Independence, and the pursuit of human equality. When the Union was about to win the war, he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth.
