Description:
Armed conflict began between American colonists and British soldiers. This would be part of the Revolutionary War (trying to achieve independence). A five-man committee with Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin created a statement for the colonies. On this day, now known as the celebration of American Independence (4th of July), it was accepted by Congress.
