July 3, 1863. The loss of many soldiers, almost 50,000 total, on both sides with a Union success. Gettysburg was a turning point in the war and ended Lee’s invasion of the North. After the battle, Abraham Lincoln presented the Gettysburg address, a famous speech even today.
