Description:
Resulting in the mysterious sinking of the Battleship Maine in Havana harbor, as well as the growing support in America for the Cubans and Filipinos against the Spanish, the United States declared war on Spain. As a result of the war, Spain gave the United States, Cuba, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. During this time, yellow journalism became a prominent role in persuading Americans to get involved in the war.
