Description:
He went into office as the youngest president, at age 42, after William McKinley was assassinated. Teddy Roosevelt was a hero of the Spanish American War. He followed the proverb “Speak softly and carry a big stick”, which he used in his Roosevelt Corollary which added to the Monroe Doctrine that the US would intervene if other countries tried to interfere in the Western Hemisphere. He was also a conservationist, setting aside lots of land for public use and national parks.
