Benjamin Gitlow was convicted for publishing a communist publication attempting to overthrow the government and was charged with being an anarchist. The ruling of this case was 7-2 for new York and this case involved the 1st and 14th amendments. It also started selective incorporation which is when the Bill of rights began to apply to state laws little by little.
