Description:
1. Creation of the Balance of Power to prevent any one nation from taking control
2. Restoration of old monarchs to the throne in France Spain and the Italian States
3. Creation of a greater Netherlands and expansion of Prussia on the Rhine
I believe that the congress of Vienna was the most important event of this century because it showed signs of the first unions in europe. The congress of Vienna created the ideology of the balance of powers which when upset by the unification of Germany lead to WW1. However the idea of alliances to prevent any one nation from being the most powerful lead to military alliances such as the axis powers creting wars on a much larger scale.
