14h 6min, may 30, 1854 y - Kansas - Nebraska Act

Description:

The Kansas-Nebraska Act was written to help politicians build the transcontinental railroad but it had unintended consequences. It allowed people in Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves (popular sovereignty) if they wanted to be a slave state or a free state. This would repeal the Missouri Compromise because both states were north of the 36/30 line.
