oct 22, 2008 - Communiqué: Judgment held that legal aid must be provided for detainees.
Description:
The Minister for the Interior published a decree and a new call for tender, drastically reducing the scope of legal aid work. The decree provides for information work only, with legal aid work off the agenda. Indicative of the state’s desire to weaken legal advocacy for detainees, the modification was eventually struck down by the Council of State (Supreme Court).
