July 10th, 1940 marked the beginning of the Battle of Britain. After France fell, Winston Churchill vowed that Britain would never surrender. In June 1940 the Luftwaffe attacked British ships in the English channel.
Hitler and the Nazis saw Britain as their only threat. since Britain was the only nation really resisting German control.
