oct 23, 1944 - Battle of Leyte Gulf
Description:
The US navy, lead by Nimitz and MacArthur, fights in a battle that is considered to be the largest naval battle in history. Luckily for the American navy, they could use the bodies of water to their advantage and turn the tide against the Japanese.
This fight marked the premiere of Kamikaze fighter pilots. Their first appearance also meant that unconditional surrender would not happen easily, but it also meant that the Japanese were getting desperate.
