jul 10, 1940 - Battle of Britain / The Blitz
Description:
Germany attempts to bomb out Britain’s military bases and key ports. After going so far as to target cities, Germany gives up after their air force is no match for British pilots. By Spring of 1941, the bombing stops for good.
Thanks to Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s leadership and the newfound technology of the radar, Britain was able to control the seas and prove how well it could defend itself. Britain also bought enough time so that their new Allies, the United States, could begin sending supplies to aid the war effort.
