9h 20min, nov 9, 1939 y - Hitler Assassination Attempt, 1939

Description:

Georg Elser’s Beer Hall Bomb
Georg Elser was a German carpenter and communist. He knew that with Hitler the country was going to take a turn for the worse. Elser found out that Hitler was going to be speaking at Munich’s Bürgerbräukeller brewery on the anniversary of the Beer Hall Putsch, so he made a bomb with a 144-hour timer. He spent nights sneaking into the Beer Hall making a space to place his bomb. The bomb was set to go off at 9:20, about midway through Hitler's speech. But, unluckily for him, Hitler's speech ended at 9:07 roughly and Hitler had left by 9:17. When the bomb went off it killed 8 people immediately, along with sending the ceiling crashing down on the podium Hitler would've been standing at, destroying it. Georg Elser was caught that same night sneaking across the Swiss border, and was later executed in 1945 when the Reich began to crumble.
