jan 1, 1851 - 1851: Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch develops Modern Orthodoxy
Description:
Rabbi Hirsch felt that the only way to maintain the Orthodoxy of his community was to acquire permission from the German government to establish a separatist (a person who supports the separation of a particular group of people from a larger body on the basis of ethnicity, religion, or gender) organization. He argued that two religious attitudes (Orthodox and Reform) could not exist side by side. In 1851, Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch developed Modern Orthodoxy.
