Description:
The fall of Constantinople towards the end of May, 1453, marked the conclusion of the 500 year decline of the Byzantine Empire. The ascendancy of the Ottomans ended the Roman Empire once and for all, while setting of waves of shock in the west. The balance of power in Europe shifted forever, and the middle ages drew to a close as rulers sought to reform feudalims to offer better resistance to the Islamic invaders.
