dec 26, 1860 - Anderson Moves From Moultrie to Sumter
Description:
December 26, 1860: Major Robert Anderson's fort, Fort Moultrie, was put on Sullivan's Island to protect Charelston from any attacks or invasions from the sea, but Major Anderson was concerned that Fort Moultrie wouldn't be able to shield themselves. Fort Sumter became two forts in one. When the attack on Fort Sumter occured there were more people inside the fort itself then there would have been if Fort Moultrie hadn't gone to Fort Sumter.
