Description:
The Assembly of First Nations was formed to represent Aboriginal peoples in their dealings with federal government. During the constitutional negotiations, The Assembly pressured political leaders for legal recognition of Aboriginal rights. Aboriginal rights were entrenched in the charter of Rights and Freedoms.
