may 14, 1607 - Jamestown
Description:
Jamestown was the first permanent English settlement established in the United States. The settlement was made up of a group of roughly 100 members. Many factors such as famine, disease, and conflict with local Native American tribes almost brought Jamestown to the verge of defeat until a new group of settlers and supplies arrived in 1610. Tobacco became Virginia's first profitable exported crop.
