Description:
The Battle of Fort Sumter was the first battle of the American Civil War. Confederates fired on the fort, that was located in the Charleston Harbor of South Carolina but was stationed by Union soldiers. The Union returned fire, but ultimately surrendered, allowing the Confederates to claim victory and capture the fort.
