jan 1, 1420 - 1420- Development of the Printing Press
Description:
The printing press was invented by Johannes Gutenberg in 1440. The printing press was important, as it made it much easier to record and spread ideas throughout Europe and the world. It was especially impactful during the Reformation of the Catholic Church, as the printing press made it possible for people to have their own Bible. This meant that people no longer had to blindly agree with what the Church said as fact, and could challenge some of the corrupted actions that the Church was doing. This was significant as it is part of the causation of the Reformation of the Catholic Church, which changed people’s religion for the hundreds of years that follow.
The picture shows an example of what a printing press looks like.
