Description:
Dred Scott was a slave who turned to the Supreme Court to grant him Freedom. He had lived in a free state and territory (Illinois and Wisconsin) before moving back to Missouri, which at the time was a slave state. In the ruling, the court stated that no slave was a citizen of the United States, therefore, he couldn't expect any protection from the Federal Government.
