jan 1, 1870 - Massacre of Buffalo

Description:

1870's

"Kill Every Buffalo You Can! Every Buffalo Dead Is an Indian Gone".

65 million of buffalo living in the Great Planes. At the end of the 19th, only 1000 left.
This was due to a hunt made by railroad workers (William A. Cody spent his life hunting buffalo for railroad companies).

A human disaster: Indians typically relied on buffalo. They would follow buffalo. To kiil buffalo meant that Indians had to change their way of life.
Late 19th century -> Indian concentrated in reservations, but this move did not take place easily, Indians resisted and a series of Indian wars took place.

"The only good Indian is a dead Indian".
