jan 1, 1854 - Kansas-Nebraska Act

Description:

Divided the unorganized territory of Nebraska into 2: Nebraska and Kansas

Repealed the Missouri Compromise so that the area west of Missouri would be open to slavery. Nebraska was to become a free territory.

Allowed people living in the territories to decide wheter they wanted the territories to be slave territories or free ones -> "most democratic solution".
