First named Pamtecough Precinct but later was changed to Beaufort Precinct. Beaufort is America’s 3rd oldest town so they are celebrating their 312th anniversary. The Pamlico Indians took the western part of the county along with that, they are enemies with the Tuscarora Indians also.
