feb 2, 1890 - Sherman Anti-Trust Act
Forbid corporations to exercise monopolistic power in their time of business. It gave the federal government the power to break up companies that violated this law. The government passed it because of the growing concern over the clout of the robber barons in the United States during the gilded ages of the late 1800's. This was in hope to try and save small businesses .
