jan 31, 1876 - The Great Sioux War
Conflict between American forces and Natives on reservations led to this war. The United States was seeking ownership of the Black Hills, where gold had been discovered. The Native Americans, however, had been granted this land- additionally, they did not believe they had the right to give nature away. Custer's last stand, or the battle of Little Big-Horn, was an attempt to win this war. Resulted in US victory.
