dec 16, 1773 - Boston Tea Party
Description:
This was in protest to the British Parliament’s Tea Act of 1773. The Tea Act basically granting East India Company a monopoly in American tea trade by lowering their taxes a great amount. This was another example of taxation tyranny. In response to this act three tea ships, Dartmouth, Eleanor, and Beaver, dumped about $18,000 dollars worth of tea in the Boston Harbor thus giving the name Boston Tea Party. Why do you think the colonists dumped tea in the harbor?
