In the 1800s ministers connected salvation to religious benevolence which began social reform. Women started to hold leadership duties and movements like women’s suffrage and Transcendentalism rose in popularity. **The Second Great Awakening ideals were more easily spread because of the new roads and canals.** The Seneca Falls Convention was able to happen because of the combination of access to transportation and Second Great Awakening Ideals. Speakers for different movements traveled state to state delivering persuasive speeches about their beliefs.
