Description:
1958-1961 Zedong decided that China needed to move toward communism more quickly. He used a p[policy of state monopoly on agriculture in order to finance industrialization. This was very similar to Stalin's failure of collectivization. Zedong eventually outlawed private ownership and created rural communes. He utilized labor-intensive industrialization to speed up the process and increase profit. Overall, there was massive famine and thousands of death. This hurt Zedong's influence in China.
