apr 15, 1783 - Henry Cort invents puddling to produce wrought iron
Description:
One of the two ways iron is made by smelting, wrought iron is soft, spongy, rubbery type of iron. It is produced by a semifixed form of relatively pure iron drops mainly surrounded by slag. Iron slag is used to make pipes because of its superior corrosion and fatigue resistance and because of one of the best things to use for welding and threading.
