jun 27, 1950 - UN votes to deploy troops to help South Korea
Description:
Just days after North Korea invaded, Truman said the US would aid South Korea. The UN Security Council shortly followed and declared they would help South Korea to restore peace in the area. At the time, the Soviets were boycotting the UN because they would not allow Mao's communist China to have a seat. If they were there, they could have used their veto power to stop the UN from supporting South Korea. The US never had a formal decleration of war but Truman ordered US troops that were stationed in Japan to move to help South Korea
