Phoebus Levene was an organic chemist in the early 1900s. He characterized DNA from RNA. Levene is best known for his incorrect tetranucleotide hypothesis of DNA that proposed that DNA was made up of equal amounts of adenine, guanine, cytosine, and thymine.
