Mina says he is a funny old man who must be awfully old. She says his face is “gnarled and twisted like the bark of a tree.” He tells them that he is almost 100 and was a sailor in the Greenland fishing fleet when Waterloo was fought. Mina also notices that he is a skeptical person.
