may 5, 1893 - On his way to Dracula’s castle (caleche) & arrives at castle
Description:
The morning of the departure, peasants gather around him muttering words that seem to be variants of the word “vampire.” The cloud makes the sign of the cross and points two fingers at him (a superstitious sign of blessing for a good & safe journey). Later, once he is on the caleche in his way to the castle of Count Dracula, he notices the drivers long brown beard, very red lips, sharp-looking white teeth, and his bright eyes that seemed to look red in the lamplight.
Arrives at castle: the count is very warm and takes his luggage and prepares him food. He is welcoming which takes all doubt away from Jonathan. That talk after supper and Dracula has a octagonal bedroom prepared and ready for Jonathan to rest in.
