jan 1, 1928 - Leon Trotsky Exiled by Joseph Stalin/Snowball Exiled by Napoleon

Description:

Stalin and Trotsky were leaders in the new communist Russia, but Stalin banishes Trotsky over disagreements and to secure ultimate power. This is mimicked in Animal Farm with Napoleon, representing Stalin, banishing Snowball, representing Trotsky, from the farm. Napoleon accomplishes this by calling so "nine enormous dogs wearing brass-studded collars came bounding into the barn" (Orwell 34). The dogs are meant to be the equivalent of the secret police, as they are trained to destroy any dissidents.
