apr 30, 1803 - Louisiana Purchase
Description:
Napoleon was the leader of France. He needed money to fund his war in Europe, so he sold the Louisiana territory to the United States. The United States bought the land for 15 million dollars.
This furthered sectionalism because the Louisiana Purchase expanded the size of the United States, which lead to more states being added to the country.
