Description:
An Egyptian monk named Telemachus was killed while protesting and pleading for the gladiatorial combat to end. His death lead to the eventual end to gladiatorial combat. Emperor Honorius issued a decree ordering the end of gladiatorial contests in 399AD. The last combat took place on the 1 January 404AD.
