Description:
The U.S. Constitution 13th Amendment abolished slavery.Nevertheless, Southern states succeeded in reviving the slavery period codes, establishing unachievable prerequisites for blacks to remain, work, or participate in society. The following year, such "black codes" were invalidated by the First Civil Rights Act, that awarded "citizenship rights" to all black people.
