Description:
Deng first ended the ideological purges, and people were placed in positions of bureaucratic management based on their expertise and effectiveness rather than their ideological loyalty to the socialist vision. The Four Modernizations: modern society, industry, national defense, and science and technology, were primarily emphasized by gradual means. Such methods are: Giving farmers freedom through TVEs, Free pricing in factories, Creation of Special Economic Zones, and reopening Universities. These Reforms ultimately lifted millions of people out of poverty and stabilizing the government and economy. China was well on their way to becoming a global economic power.
