nov 23, 1550 BC - Scurvy
Description:
A condition caused by lack of vitamin C in the diet. People who don’t have enough fruits and vegetables in their diet are at risk. Months after a person’s dietary intake of vitamin C drops too low, symptoms may start showing up. Hippocrates documented scurvy as a disease. Egyptians have recorded its symptoms as early as 1550 BCE. The knowledge that consuming foods containing vitamin C is a cure for scurvy has been repeatedly rediscovered and forgotten into the early 20th century
