After the revolutionary war, the new nation was in dept. The fedral government could not generate taxes directly. Hamilton came with an idea of public credits and national bank. Public credit was to generate indirect tax while being supported by the constitution. The national bank was to support the fedral government financially. The national bank and public credit had reduce the nation's debt.
