When Maria Theresa made an Alliance with the French kings, Frederick signed a treaty with Britain causing a diplomatic revolution. Russia suddenly was playing a role in European affairs and both Austria and Prussia had switched allies. In 1756, Frederick attacked Saxony and soon every European power was involved. The war lasted until 1763, yet it didn’t cause any different territories to be taken or acknowledged. The British came out as the real winners of the Seven Years’ war. This war made it possible for the British to expand into India later on.
