dec 2, 1823 - Monroe Doctrine

Description:

This doctrine set by president James Monroe was a message to congress saying that no foreign power is to meddle in the land of the US and the US will recognize and and not interfere with foreign states. This doctrine reinforced the ideas of isolationism and was made to protect the US from Spain attempting to restore its previous colonies. This statement made to congress was a very important event because it was a forceful statement to foreign powers to not mess with the US that set the tone between the US and European nations.
