may 4, 1970 - Kent State Shooting

Description:

On may 4th 1970 there was a shooting in Kent state. College students who were unarmed were protesting against the Veitnam war. The Ohio state guards started shooting off many rounds of bullets and killed 4 students. 9 other students got injured pretty severley as well. The guards had shot people from long distances away. They killed a student from 390 feet away, and injured other students with shots from 750 feet away. A picture of the shooting got released in the newspaper and got spread around the world. The picture was of Mary Vecchio screaming crying over the dead body of Jeffrey Miller. Jeffery Miller was shot through the mouth by the Ohio guards. The picture of the shooting won a prize and was always remembered. Many people believed that it was the students fault that they got killed because they shouldn’t have been protesting.
