During the 1970s the first gay pride flag was flown. It was put up in San Francisco in 1978. In the year 1977 Quebec was the first place other than a small city to put laws against making fun of gay people.
In the year 1970 New york held the very first gay liberation parade. In 1972 Sweden was the first country in the world that allowed transgender people. In 1974 Kathy Kozachenko was the first person elected into public office in America.
