Description:
This act was when parliament attempted to raise money from direct instead of through trade. This act made it so that all printed material in the colonies had a stamp that purchased from the authority. The act's purpose was to help finance operations of the empire. It offended every colonist from rich to poor. Overall it caused the first great split between colonists and Great Britain, all over the meaning of freedom.
