Description:
This was a strike. 400,000 bituminous miners went on strike for safer conditions, higher pay, and health benefits. President Truman got his settlement rejected by the workers which gave the workers a $3.5 million fine which ended the strike. Some of the workers demands were met through the Truman Compromise.
